American Traveler is hiring a travel RN for a high-acuity MICU position at a Level II Trauma Center, requiring a minimum of 2 years of ICU experience and Epic proficiency.

Details

• Work in a high-acuity, fast-paced Medical ICU (MICU) at a Level II Trauma Center with 571 total staffed beds across both campuses
• Patient population includes medically complex, critically ill adults with conditions such as respiratory failure requiring mechanical or noninvasive ventilation, ARDS, multisystem organ failure, various shock states, cardiac arrest with TTM, CVA post-tPA, DKA, ETOH withdrawal, and COVID
• Standard nurse-to-patient ratio is 2:1, with potential increase to 4:1 when boarding patients awaiting inpatient transfer (boarders grouped together)
• One CNA is available per shift for support
• Frequently performed bedside procedures include central and arterial line placement, chest tube placement, rapid sequence intubation, para- and thoracentesis, and code blue response
• Charting is performed in Epic (experience required)
• Day shift: 3x12-hour shifts, 6:30 AM – 7:00 PM
• Weekend work is required
• Floating to telemetry units is possible but expected to be rare given staffing levels; travelers should be prepared to float between all facilities within the state
• Local candidates are not accepted for this position

Requirements

• Active WA state RN license or a valid Compact RN license accepted in Washington
• Current certifications required: BLS, ACLS, and NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS)
• Minimum 2 years of MICU or comparable critical care RN experience required
• Epic EMR experience required
• Minimum of 2 supervisory references covering 1 year of employment within the last 3 years in a comparable specialty or setting
• SSN and DOB required for consideration
• Active RN license must be in hand at time of consideration

Additional Information

• First-time travelers are not eligible for this position
• Former permanent staff must wait at least 3 months before returning as a traveler and must not reside within 50 miles of the facility
• Scrub color is open (no reddish-orange permitted)
• Parking is facility-paid
• Up to 2 RTO requests may be pre-approved; minimal RTO is strongly preferred for this position
• All RTO and scheduling requests must be submitted at the time of candidacy — post-offer requests are subject to denial
• Refusal to float when required may result in assignment termination
