American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med/Surg position requiring telemetry experience and post-PCI experience for night shift work at an acute care facility in Frankfort, KY.

Details

• Work in a 46-bed Med/Surg unit at a 173-bed acute care hospital with Magnet® designation for nursing excellence
• Patient ratio of 6:1
• Night shift hours: 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM, three 12-hour shifts per week
• Every other weekend required
• Procedures performed on unit include telemetry monitoring and paracentesis
• Equipment used includes GE Apex Pro Telemetry, Baxter IV pumps, Alaris PCA IV pump, Hoyer lift, Sara Steady, iMobile, Welch Allyn Vitals machine, and Glucometer
• EMR: Meditech Expanse
• May float to 3 South (post-surgical Med/Surg) or PCU to staff telemetry overflow
• 13-week contract

Requirements

• Active KY or compact RN license in good standing
• Current BLS required; ACLS preferred
• Current NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification required (must be renewed annually)
• Minimum 2 years of Med/Surg experience required
• Telemetry experience required, including EKG interpretation
• Post-Percutaneous Coronary Intervention (PCI) experience required
• Experience with CPAP management and port access required
• Preferred experience with chest tubes, NG tubes, wound vac, drains, post-dialysis assessment, central lines, and blood transfusions
• US SSN and date of birth required for consideration
• One professional reference required

Additional Information

• Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility — local candidates are not eligible
• Navy blue or gray scrubs required; royal blue scrubs are strictly not permitted
• No t-shirts, fleece jackets, or sweatshirts; scrub jackets and patterned long-sleeve shirts under scrub tops are permitted
• Unit is fully supported with a director, manager, and clinical educator on staff
• Strong interdisciplinary collaboration and communication with all providers
