American Traveler is hiring a travel RN for a Convenient Care (ambulatory/ED-style) position in Urbana, IL, requiring ED or inpatient experience and Epic proficiency.

Details

• Day shift schedule: 9:00 AM – 9:30 PM, 3x12s per week; block scheduling will be considered
• 36 hours per week
• Every other weekend or flex weekend shifts required
• Rotating holiday coverage required
• No on-call or floating requirements
• Ambulatory convenient care setting with an ED-level scope of practice
• Patient care includes a wide range of procedures: ear washes, nebulizer treatments, peak flows, splint applications, crutch training, wound care, point-of-care testing, IV starts and IV therapy, vision screenings, EKGs, catheterizations, and suture/staple removal
• Provider assistance includes vaginal exams, suture and staple placement, and incision and drainage
• Serves as part of the Code Team when needed
• Epic EMR required

Requirements

• Active IL RN license in good standing (temp license accepted)
• Current AHA certifications required: BLS, ACLS, and PALS
• Minimum 1 year of relevant nursing experience
• ED or inpatient nursing experience required
• Epic EMR experience required
• ASN required; BSN preferred
• Must reside more than 50 miles from the facility to be eligible for this position
• Strong critical thinking and independent judgment skills
• Multicultural sensitivity and effective communication skills

Additional Information

• Responsibilities include rooming patients, collecting vital signs and medication reconciliation, telephone triage, specimen collection and processing, patient education, and exam/waiting room rounding
• Communicates test results to patients via phone and patient portal (nurse in-basket)
• Manages prescription medication refill requests per department protocols, including calling in medications to pharmacies and EMR documentation
• Maintains department-specific competencies related to point-of-care testing, equipment handling, specialty training, and instrument cleaning
• May serve as Nurse Lead during assigned shifts and as preceptor for new staff and healthcare students
• Candidates who have been on continuous assignment with Carle Health for 1 year must take a 6-month break in service before returning to any Carle Health location
• RTO not to exceed 7 days per 13-week contract
