American Traveler is seeking an experienced Oncology RN for an outpatient Medical Oncology clinic position requiring at least 1 year of oncology experience, port access skills, and the ability to independently manage clinic operations.

Details

• Outpatient Hematology/Oncology clinic setting with 20 exam rooms, 10 physicians, and 4 APPs
• Supports General Oncology patients including solid tumors and anemias, as well as specialized benign and malignant cancer cases
• Average daily census of 12–16 patients per provider
• 8-hour day shift, Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM
• No weekend rotation, no on-call, and no holiday requirements
• No floating requirements — position is fixed at the Concord location
• EMR: Epic (highly preferred); Omnicell used on the infusion side

Requirements

• Active NC or Compact RN license required
• BLS certification required
• OCN certification preferred
• Minimum 1 year of Medical Oncology RN experience required; 2+ years preferred
• Outpatient clinic experience highly preferred; strong acute care oncology experience may be considered
• Proficiency in port-a-cath access and peripheral blood draws (phlebotomy) required
• Ability to triage and prioritize oncology emergencies and crises via phone
• Experience administering active Chemo, Biotherapy, and Immunotherapy treatments required
• Epic EMR experience highly preferred, including use of the messaging/communication features
• Last 4 digits of SSN and full date of birth required for consideration
• Minimum 1 professional reference dated within the past year from a Supervisor, Manager, Director, or Charge RN

Additional Information

• Responsibilities include independently running the Medical Oncology clinic, assisting with patient treatment plan coordination, high-level phone and in-person patient triage, and serving as a clinical liaison
• Best candidates will also have experience running a Hematology clinic and Breast Clinic
• Daily support provided by a Charge RN and Clinical Supervisor, with regular managerial rounds
• Orientation is 1–3 weeks depending on experience, including a shadowing component
• A clinical interview with the manager is required as part of the selection process
• Navy blue scrubs required
• Candidates must permanently reside more than 50 miles from the facility to be eligible
• Candidates who have worked a permanent position at an AHSE facility must have been separated for at least 1 year before being considered
