American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Telemetry Oncology unit at a Level 1 Trauma facility in Arizona, requiring an active AZ or compact RN license and a minimum of 2 years of experience.

Details

• Acute care setting on a 32-bed Med/Surg Telemetry Oncology unit (Tower 6)
• Patient population is approximately 85% oncology and 15% telemetry/med-surg, including surgical, medical, and oncology patients
• Nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:4
• Charting via Cerner EMR
• Telemetry monitoring via Philips; RNs are expected to independently interpret EKGs
• Ventilatory support includes BiPAP and CPAP
• Supported by 2 PCTs per shift (days and nights), a SWAT RN IV team for difficult IV access, RT 24/7, and pharmacy 24/7
• Charge nurse present with a light patient assignment; serves as an oncology resource RN
• 12-hour day shifts, 7am–7pm
• 4 weekend shifts required per 4-week period
• Holiday coverage based on unit rotation
• Floating required to other Med/Surg and telemetry units

Requirements

• Active AZ or compact RN license required; pending licenses are not accepted
• Minimum of 2 years of RN experience required
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications required; pending certifications are not accepted
• Level 1 Trauma facility experience applicable to this acute oncology telemetry environment
• Cerner EMR experience required
• Proficiency in sterile technique, including Foley catheter insertion and central line dressing changes, is expected
• Candidates must reside at least 50 miles from the facility (driver's license used to verify permanent address)
• Two professional references required: one supervisor from within the last 12 months and one peer or supervisor from within the last 3 years, both including dates of employment and eligibility for rehire
• Copy of driver's license required for consideration

Additional Information

• Chemo certification is a plus but not required
• Candidates must pass the Relias Dysrhythmia (DYS) exam prior to offer confirmation; two attempts are allowed
• Orientation includes a pass/fail SIMs Lab assessment covering Foley catheter insertion and central line dressing changes — nurses have been dismissed for breaking sterile field, so strong sterile technique is essential
• Additional orientation content covers lifts, restraints, and wound care (educational only, not pass/fail)
• Floor-specific orientation is 2 days on the unit
• Candidates may not have been directly employed (full-time, part-time, or PRN) by any CommonSpirit, CHI, or Dignity facility within the past year; candidates placed PRN through outside staffing firms will be considered
• Scrub color is navy
• Natural hair color required; facial piercings are not permitted
• Male candidates must be clean-shaven for fit testing
• Travelers are required to have their own personal vehicle
