American Traveler is hiring an LPN for a Med/Surg Tele unit with a neurology focus, requiring recent acute care experience and EKG testing on day one.

Details

• 30-bed Med/Surg Telemetry unit with a primary focus on neurology
• Patient population includes neuro/neurosurgical, cardiac, renal, and general med/surg cases such as post-cath without intervention, stable arrhythmias, post-pacemakers, syncope, and chronic renal failure
• Drips include Heparin; oxygen support includes stable trachs, BiPAP, CPAP, and high flow — no ventilators; max O2 requirement is 6L
• Team nursing model: one RN and one LPN each cover 5 patients per team, supported by a tech and one HUC on days
• Patient ratio is 1:10 per team (5 patients per LPN)
• 12-hour day shifts
• Every third weekend required; every other holiday (EOH)
• Epic EHR (training preferred)
• Local candidates accepted (local rate applies)

Requirements

• Current LPN license required — license required if applicable
• Minimum 1 year of recent acute care or hospital experience required
• Current BLS (AHA) certification required
• Must pass a facility EKG exam (medication portion not required); study guides provided and two attempts allowed on day one
• Proof of address required for consideration (accepted documents include driver's license, voter registration card, federal tax return, Military Form 2058, or W2 from US government)
• Full SSN and DOB (MM/DD) required for consideration
• 1 supervisory reference required for consideration
• Nursys license verification required for consideration
• Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility to qualify for travel pay rate

Additional Information

• Provides skilled nursing care and medication administration under the supervision of an RN and in collaboration with the interdisciplinary team
• Responsibilities include patient assessments, wound dressing changes, phlebotomy, and asthma treatments, as well as documenting objective and subjective patient data per unit charting guidelines
• Monitors and reports significant changes in patient condition, contributing to plan of care revisions
• Delegates appropriate nursing tasks in accordance with state nursing board guidelines
• Navy blue scrubs required
• Charge nurse is intended to be out of ratio on days
• First-time travelers will be considered (ITO prescreen/offer)
