American Traveler is seeking an experienced Behavioral Health RN for a psychiatric nursing position in the Phoenix area, requiring at least 2 years of psych experience and 1 year of M/S experience within the last 5 years.

Details

• Behavioral Health unit serving adolescent, adult, and geriatric psychiatric patient populations
• Patient ratio of 1:12 with tech support
• Night shift schedule: 3x12-hour shifts, 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM
• One weekend shift required per week (Friday does not count as a weekend day)
• Float required PRN across 3 facilities within 24 miles of the main campus (Mesa, Roosevelt, and Maryvale locations)
• Float may include a step-down to Behavioral Health Tech (BHT) role PRN
• No on-call requirements
• 13-week contract

Requirements

• Active AZ or Compact RN license required prior to consideration
• BLS certification required
• Minimum 2 years of psychiatric nursing experience required
• Minimum 1 year of Med/Surg (M/S) experience within the last 5 years required — must be from a dedicated M/S or true psych M/S unit (float experience does not qualify)
• Proficiency in tube feedings, NG tube insertion and maintenance, Foley catheter insertion and maintenance, IV insertion and maintenance, and voluntary/involuntary commitment processes
• Willingness and ability to assume a charge nurse role across all areas, including med-psych

Additional Information

• First-time travelers from a like facility are welcome to apply
• Candidates must reside at least 75 miles from the facility — local candidates are not accepted
• Orientation is 2 weeks in duration, held on day shift only, beginning on Tuesdays
• CPI certification is preferred and available on-site
• Blackout RTO dates apply: 5/22–5/25, 7/3–7/6, and 9/4–9/7 — time off will not be approved during these windows
• While RNs will remain on psychiatric units, some patients may have minor M/S care needs
