American Traveler is hiring a travel LPN for a Med/Surg Tele overflow unit, requiring 1+ year of experience and Epic proficiency, with day shifts and EOW weekend coverage.

Details

• Works in a 14-bed overflow Med/Surg Tele unit housed within a GI Endoscopy space, designed to accommodate ED boarder patients
• Patient volume fluctuates based on ED boarder demand, so census may increase or decrease accordingly
• Day shift schedule: 3x12-hour shifts (7:00–19:00)
• Every other weekend (EOW) coverage required
• On-call requirements dependent on staffing needs
• May be required to float to care for Med/Surg patients based on unit turn
• Epic EMR — experience required
• Skills include: ED and MS/Tele experience, blood glucose monitoring, feeding tube care, Foley catheter insertion (male and female), ear/eye drops, IM and SQ injections, NG/G-tube care, oral/subcutaneous medication administration, ambulation, oxygen administration (face mask and nasal cannula), sitz/tub/bed/shower bathing, mouth care, patient admission, vital sign monitoring, and isolation precautions

Requirements

• Current LPN/LVN license required (license required if applicable)
• Minimum 1 year of LPN experience required
• Current BLS certification required
• Experience in Med/Surg Tele and Emergency Department settings required
• Epic EMR experience required
• Must reside more than 75 miles from the facility to be eligible
• Pending licenses are not accepted — active license required at start of assignment
• 2 professional supervisory references from within the past 2 years required for consideration
• Full 7-year work history with all gaps explained required for consideration

Additional Information

• LPNs may not assume a charge assignment or act as a resource nurse in GI Outpatient or Med/Surg settings
• SBAR communication protocol is used for ED patients; verbal report is expected for all other transfers and admissions
• Previous charge nurse experience is preferred
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply
• Block scheduling will be accommodated when possible
• Minimal time-off requests are preferred; all scheduling requests must be submitted upfront
• Navy blue or white scrubs required
