American Traveler is hiring an RN - First Assist for a hospital OR position requiring a minimum of 2 years of surgical first assist experience and independent Da Vinci Robot experience.

Details

• Hospital-based Operating Room (OR) setting with 4-6 surgical suites averaging 10-20 cases per day
• Specialties include robotics, spine, ortho, laparoscopic, general surgery, GYN, urology, vascular, and ENT — candidates must be proficient across most specialties
• Patient population ranges from ages 18-101; pediatric cases are typically limited to ENT
• Equipment used includes Microscope and Da Vinci robotic system
• Day shift with end-of-week preferred; open to 8-, 10-, or 12-hour shifts
• Call requirement: 1 weekday call shift and 1 weekend shift 2x per 6-week period
• OR is closed on national holidays, though call may still be required on those days

Requirements

• Active RN license — VA state license or compact RN license required
• RNFA (Registered Nurse First Assist) certification required
• Current BLS certification required
• Minimum 2 years of experience as a Surgical First Assist required
• Independent Da Vinci Robot experience required
• Proof of address required for consideration (e.g., Driver's License, Voter Registration Card, Federal Tax Return, Military Form DD-2058, or W2 from U.S. government)
• Full SSN and DOB (MM/DD) required for consideration
• 1 supervisory reference required
• Nursys license verification required
• Copy of all certifications required

Additional Information

• Responsibilities include preoperative, intraoperative, and postoperative care, including patient assessment and discharge instructions
• Acts as first assist to the surgical team, anticipating needs, maintaining the sterile field, and supporting safe patient outcomes
• Ability to scrub (end of day) is preferred
• Prior travel nursing experience preferred
• Additional credentialing through the facility is required and must be completed prior to starting
• Two-step interview process: initial interview with ITO followed by a second interview with the hiring manager
• Pass/Fail EKG testing required on the first day, with 2 attempts allowed; study guides will be provided
• Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility to qualify for the travel pay rate
