American Traveler is hiring a travel RN for an Acute Rehab (IRF) position requiring at least 1 year of med/surg or acute rehab experience, with night shift scheduling and Epic EMR.

Details

• Acute Inpatient Rehabilitation Unit (IRF) within a hospital setting
• 7-bed unit serving patients with stroke, trauma, cardiac conditions, debility, spinal cord injury, neurological conditions, and orthopedic diagnoses
• Nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:3–4; typically 2 nurses on shift when census is 5 or more patients (LPN+RN or RN+RN staffing model)
• Telemetry is present on the unit but RNs are not required to read strips — monitoring is handled at a central location
• Common equipment includes CPAP and BiPAP; no trachs on this unit
• EMR is Epic; prior Epic experience preferred
• 12-hour night shifts, 3x per week (6p–6a)
• Self-scheduling with block scheduling allowed; core staff have first pick
• Every 3rd weekend required
• Float responsibilities include Med/Surg, Stepdown, and Behavioral Health Unit (pass meds or sitter role)
• On-call may be required during low census periods

Requirements

• Active NE or Compact RN license required
• Current BLS certification (AHA or ARC) required
• Minimum 1 year of med/surg or acute rehab RN experience required
• Proficiency with IVs (self-insertion), straight caths, Foley catheters, antibiotics administration, and care of isolation patients
• Candidates must reside more than 45 miles from the facility to qualify

Additional Information

• RNs participate in weekly Interdisciplinary Team (IDT) conferences held on Wednesday mornings
• Inpatient Rehab Facility (IRF) training is completed on the Acute Rehab Unit
• Rehabilitation patients are generally less medically complex; average length of stay is 7–10 days, up to 30 days
• Unit orientation is 1 shift
• Nurse aides are floated to the unit as needed; none are permanently assigned to the ARU
• PT, OT, and SLP services are provided on the unit
• Holiday coverage is required every other observed holiday; Easter is worked by whoever is scheduled for that weekend
• Navy scrubs required for nursing staff
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply
