Description

American Traveler is hiring an LPN for an inpatient rehabilitation unit, requiring at least 2 years of inpatient rehab or med/surg experience and an active GA LPN or RN license.

Details

• Work setting is a 58-bed inpatient rehabilitation hospital located approximately 5-6 miles from the main hospital
• Assignment is to Rehab Unit 1, a 25-bed unit with a typical census of 20-25 patients
• Patient population includes neurological and traumatic conditions such as TBI, spinal cord injury, CVA, aneurysm, post-craniotomy, brain bleeds, and patients with PEG tubes and tracheostomies (mostly capped)
• Patient ratio is 1:5-7 (RN/LPN), supported by 1-3 CNAs per shift
• No IV drips required for this position
• EMR is Epic; experience is expected
• Scheduled for 12-hour day shifts (0700-1900), with some night shift coverage (1900-0700) on a 6-week rotating schedule
• Weekend rotation includes approximately 5-6 weekend shifts per 6-week schedule
• May be required to float between Rehab Unit 1 and Rehab Unit 2
• No on-call requirements

Requirements

• Active GA LPN or RN license required at start of assignment — license required if applicable
• Minimum 2 years of inpatient rehab or med/surg experience required; inpatient rehab knowledge is essential
• Current BLS and NIHSS certifications required
• Experience with neurological and rehab patient populations including TBI, CVA, spinal cord injury, and post-craniotomy patients
• Clinical skills required include wound care, dressing changes, wound vacs, drains, peripheral IV starts and maintenance, ostomy care, IV antibiotics, PEG tube maintenance, tube feeds, established trach care, and management of braces and splints
• Familiarity with bowel and bladder programs required
• Epic EMR experience expected
• Minimum 1 professional reference dated within the past year from a Supervisor, Manager, Director, or Charge RN
• Last 4 digits of SSN and full date of birth required for consideration
• Candidates who have worked a permanent position at an AHSE facility must have been separated for at least 1 year to be eligible

• Orientation includes 1 day of facility orientation with educational modules followed by 2 days of departmental orientation
• Holiday coverage is expected, including one shift of each major holiday (Thanksgiving Day or the day after, 12/24 or 12/25, and 12/31 or 1/1)
• Time-off requests must be approved through the unit manager
• LPNs are required to wear ceil blue scrubs

• Unit is described as busy but team-oriented
• Support staff includes CNAs, a unit secretary, a Charge RN, phlebotomy, respiratory therapy (available 24/7), and a hospitalist (on-call at night)
• Equipment on the unit includes Alaris IV pumps, Pyxis medication dispensing, Philips monitors, VS3 vital sign monitors, Dynamap portable vital sign monitors, bladder scanners, suction machines, and portable oxygen systems
• A clinical interview with manager approval is required
