American Traveler is hiring a travel LPN for an inpatient rehab unit specializing in neuro and brain injury patients, requiring at least 2 years of inpatient rehab or med/surg experience and an active GA LPN license.

Details

• 58-bed inpatient rehab hospital located approximately 5-6 miles from the main hospital campus
• Assignment is on a 25-bed inpatient rehab unit (Unit 2) with a typical census of 20-25 patients
• Patient population includes neuro, traumatic brain injury (TBI), spinal cord injury, CVA, aneurysm, post-craniotomy, brain bleeds, and patients with PEG tubes and tracheostomies
• Patient ratio is 1:5-7 with 1-3 CNAs per shift providing supportive care
• 12-hour day shifts, 0700-1900, for 36 hours per week on a 6-week scheduling cycle
• Weekend rotation of approximately 5-6 shifts per 6-week schedule
• May be required to float between Rehab Unit 1 and Unit 2
• EMR is Epic; experience preferred
• Equipment includes Alaris IV pumps, Pyxis medication dispensing, Philips monitors, VS3 vital sign monitors, Dynamap portable monitors, bladder scanners, portable oxygen systems, and suction machines

Requirements

• Active GA LPN license required (license required if applicable)
• Minimum 2 years of inpatient rehab or med/surg experience; inpatient rehab knowledge is required
• Current BLS and NIHSS certifications required
• Experience with wound care, dressing changes, wound vacs, drains, peripheral IV starts and maintenance, ostomy care, IV antibiotics, PEG tube maintenance, tube feeds, and established trach care
• Experience with braces, splints, and bowel/bladder programs
• Minimum 1 professional reference from a supervisor, manager, director, or charge RN dated within the past year
• Last 4 digits of SSN and full date of birth required for consideration

• Orientation includes 1 day of facility orientation with educational modules followed by 2 days of departmental orientation
• Support staff include CNAs, a unit secretary, charge RN, phlebotomy, respiratory therapy (RT available 24/7), and a hospitalist (on-site during the day, on call at night)
• No IV drips administered on this unit; RT manages trach collar and O2 as needed
• Holiday coverage is expected, including one shift each of major holidays (Thanksgiving or day after, 12/24 or 12/25, and 12/31 or 1/1)
• RTO requests must be submitted through and approved by the manager
• LPN scrub color is ceil blue

• Unit culture is described as busy but team-oriented
• Candidates who have previously worked a permanent position at an AHSE facility must have been separated for at least 1 year before being eligible
