American Traveler is hiring a travel RN for a Medical Oncology/Telemetry unit, caring for adult and geriatric solid tumor cancer patients, with 2 years of experience required and telemetry skills essential.

Details

• Inpatient medical oncology/telemetry unit in an academic cancer hospital setting
• Cares for adult and geriatric patients with solid tumor cancers including breast, lung, prostate, pancreatic, colon, esophageal, and patients undergoing antineoplastic chemotherapy
• Covers the full cancer care continuum, from new diagnosis through treatment to end-of-life transition
• Staffing ratio goal of 1:4, with potential for 1:5 based on census
• Night shift schedule (3x12), 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM
• Shift assignments are assessed every 4-week scheduling period; rotating day/night contracts may include nights or a mixed schedule based on department needs
• Weekend scheduling is variable based on unit needs
• Floating required to other Med/Surg Oncology units
• Uses Epic EMR
• Telemetry interpretation and monitoring required

Requirements

• Active OH RN license or compact RN license currently in hand
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
• Current BLS certification required
• Proficiency in telemetry interpretation and monitoring required
• ONS Chemotherapy certification preferred
• Oncology experience preferred but not required
• Previous travel nursing experience preferred
• 2 professional supervisor references from within the past 2 years required for consideration
• Full 7-year work history with all gaps explained required for consideration

Additional Information

• Strong emphasis on infection prevention protocols and patient fall prevention
• First week of orientation is Monday–Friday on day shift; second week consists of 36 hours of on-unit orientation with a preceptor
• Self-scheduling requests are submitted prior to the schedule being finalized and balanced
• All time-off and scheduling requests must be submitted at the time of initial application
• No break between assignments is required to change representation at this facility (except for Sterile Processing Techs)
