American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Cardiac Stepdown position in Ohio, requiring SD/PCU background with 1:5 ratio experience and Epic proficiency.

Details

• Acute care hospital setting in a Cardiac Stepdown (Advanced Care) unit
• Typical patient population includes heart failure, chest pain rule-out, NSTEMI, post-procedure patients, COPD exacerbation, and drug/ETOH overdose and withdrawal
• Targeted patient ratio is 1:5-6
• Daily average census of 31 patients
• RNs must be competent to manage IV drips including heparin, nitroglycerin, amiodarone, Cardizem, and insulin
• EMR: Epic (experience required)
• Day shift, 4x12-hour shifts, 7:00 AM – 7:30 PM
• Every other weekend and holiday coverage required
• Travelers are first to float at the health system's discretion, within medically appropriate specialty clusters, potentially across multiple campuses within a 15-mile radius of the main campus

Requirements

• Active OH RN license or a Compact RN license currently in hand
• Current certifications required: BLS and NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS); ACLS preferred
• Minimum 1.5 years of RN experience required
• Stepdown (SD) or PCU experience is required; ICU experience does not substitute for SD/PCU experience at this facility
• Must have documented 1:5 ratio experience in a SD or PCU setting
• IV start proficiency required
• Ability to read and interpret cardiac rhythm strips required
• Epic EMR experience required
• Some Level 1 or Level 2 trauma facility experience preferred
• Travel nursing experience preferred
• Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility to be eligible

Additional Information

• Must pass an online EKG telemetry competency assessment prior to starting the assignment
• Navy blue scrubs are required
• Nurses assigned to the HRRU unit will be fitted for an N95 mask prior to working; PAPR may be offered when needed
• All RTO requests must be submitted at the time of initial application; no RTO will be added after an offer is extended, and approval is at the manager's discretion
• 13-week contract
