American Traveler is seeking an experienced Correctional RN for a 13-week assignment at a large detention center in Albuquerque, NM, requiring BLS, ACLS, and MOAB certification with phlebotomy and IV skills.

Details

• Correctional nursing unit within a large detention center facility with an average daily population of approximately 1,640 inmates
• Responsible for triaging and assessing new intakes, conducting detox rounds per protocol, and making referrals to providers including dental and mental health professionals
• Provides both routine and emergency healthcare to incarcerated patients
• Required skills include phlebotomy, IV insertion, high-flow nasal cannula (HFNC), nasal cannula, non-invasive airway management, oral suctioning, oxygen face masks, portable oxygen tanks, and isolation precautions
• Charting performed in Cerner
• Day shift schedule: 4x12-hour shifts, 6:00 AM – 6:30 PM
• Block scheduling available upon request
• Every other weekend required
• 36-hour weekly contract (4x12 schedule)

Requirements

• Active NM RN license or compact RN license; pending license accepted
• Minimum 1 year of RN experience required
• Current certifications required: BLS and ACLS
• MOAB certification required; if not currently held, a 4-hour de-escalation course will be provided during the first week — failure to pass may result in contract cancellation
• Must be able to pass a facility background check
• Proficiency in phlebotomy, IV insertion, HFNC, non-invasive airway management, oral suctioning, and oxygen delivery systems required
• Cerner EMR experience preferred
• COVID vaccination required; religious and medical exemptions accepted with a completed exemption form signed by a provider

Additional Information

• First-time travelers are welcome to apply; prior correctional nursing experience is preferred
• Candidates must reside more than 100 miles from the facility to be eligible
• RTO requests exceeding 7 days require approval
• Travelers who have worked 4 consecutive assignments or reached the one-year mark must take a 6-month break before returning
