American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Case Management position at a Level 4 Trauma Center in Tacoma, WA, requiring a minimum of 2 years of recent acute inpatient case management experience and a BSN.

Details

• Work in the Case Management unit of a 130-bed Level 4 Trauma Center with a certified geriatric ED
• Adult inpatient population including ICU, PCU, MedSurg, and ED patients — no pediatric, L&D, or NICU patients
• Case manager-to-patient ratio of approximately 1:15–20
• EMR: Epic (experience required)
• Schedule consists of five 8-hour day shifts per week; maximum of 6 consecutive shifts
• Every other weekend rotation required
• No on-call responsibilities
• Travelers are floated first if needed, with notification given at the start of the shift — no mid-shift floating except in emergencies
• Floating may occur between multiple system facilities within the area

Requirements

• Active WA RN license or a compact RN license valid in Washington State
• BSN required
• Minimum 2 years of recent acute inpatient case management experience required
• Minimum 4 years of overall nursing experience required
• Acute care case management experience is required
• Knowledge of healthcare financial and reimbursement practices required
• Epic EMR experience required
• ER and Utilization Review experience preferred
• Candidates whose experience is predominantly in children's hospitals will not be considered
• First-time travelers are not eligible for this position
• Two supervisory references required (Charge Nurse, Manager, Director, or above); one reference may be submitted for initial consideration with a second required prior to start

Additional Information

• Responsibilities include post-discharge planning and connecting patients with community resources
• Supported by leadership, peer case managers, and case management assistants
• Orientation is approximately 1–3 days; travelers should be prepared to begin seeing patients on day one, paired with another case manager RN
• At least one holiday shift is required; additional holidays may be worked voluntarily
• All time-off requests must be submitted upfront and are subject to manager approval
• Business casual dress code — scrubs are not worn
