American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a fast-paced Emergency Department position at a Level IV Trauma Center and teaching hospital in Milwaukee, WI, requiring a minimum of 3 years of ED experience and a full certification stack including TNCC.

• Emergency Department at a 228-bed Level IV Trauma Center, Advance Comprehensive Stroke Center, and academic teaching hospital in Milwaukee, WI
• ED consists of 35 beds and 6 fast track rooms, averaging approximately 168 patients per day
• Patient population spans neonates to geriatrics, including a heavy mental health population, invasive neuro, STEMI, and trauma cases (GSW, stabbings, falls, MVC); STEMI and invasive neuro cases are stabilized and transferred to a partner facility
• Patient ratios: 1:4 acuity-based for standard ED beds; 1:6 for fast track
• 12-hour day shifts, 36 hours per week; weekday shifts run 11:00 AM–11:00 PM and weekend shifts run 3:00 PM–3:00 AM
• Every other weekend rotation required
• No on-call or call-back responsibilities
• No floating required
• Charting system: Epic (experience required); equipment includes Alaris pumps and Pyxis medication dispensing
• Central and bedside telemetry monitoring available on unit

Requirements

• Active WI RN license or compact RN license currently in hand
• Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS, NIHSS, and TNCC
• Minimum 3 years of ED experience in a fast-paced emergency department setting, with most recent experience within the last year
• Proficiency in cardiac rhythm interpretation, IV insertion, basic critical care drip management, tPA administration, blood administration, procedural sedation, and code blue response
• NIHSS experience required — certification cannot be obtained after hire
• Triage experience strongly preferred
• At least 1 professional reference from a Supervisor, Manager, Director, or Charge RN dated within the past year

Additional Information

• Provide emergency nursing care across a broad acuity spectrum, including trauma, stroke, cardiac, and behavioral health presentations
• Unit support includes 24/7 unit secretary, ED techs, charge nurse, phlebotomy, respiratory therapy, ED physicians, mid-level providers, OT/PT/ST, and a dedicated ED educator
• Security is present with a locked unit; security home base is located in the ED lobby
• Orientation consists of two 12-hour shifts on the unit
• Holiday coverage required for every other major holiday
• Any color professional scrubs are acceptable

• Former employees of Advocate Health or any of its subsidiaries must be separated for at least 12 months before being eligible for this position
