American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a fast-paced Emergency Department position at a Level IV Trauma Center and teaching hospital in Milwaukee, WI, requiring a minimum of 3 years of ED experience.

• Work setting is a 228-bed academic teaching hospital designated as a Level IV Trauma Center, Advanced Comprehensive Stroke Center, Geriatric Accredited Center, and Level III NICU facility located in Milwaukee, WI
• Emergency Department has 35 beds and 6 fast track rooms with an average daily census of approximately 168 patients
• Patient population spans neonates to geriatrics, including heavy mental health cases, trauma (GSW, stabbings, falls, MVC), invasive neuro, STEMI, and all general ED diagnoses
• Patient ratios are 1:4 (acuity-based) on the main ED and 1:6 in fast track
• 12-hour day shift, 11:00 AM – 11:00 PM on weekdays; weekend shifts run 3:00 PM – 3:00 AM
• Standard hours are 36 per week
• Every other weekend rotation required
• No on-call or call-back requirements
• Charting system is Epic; equipment includes Alaris pumps and Pyxis medication dispensing; central and bedside telemetry monitoring available
• No floating required

Requirements

• Active WI or compact RN license required
• Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS, NIHSS, and TNCC — NIHSS experience must be obtained prior to start, not after
• Minimum 3 years of ED experience in a fast-paced emergency department setting
• Most recent experience must be within the last year
• Proficiency in cardiac rhythm interpretation, IV placement, critical care drip management, TPA administration, blood administration, procedural sedation, and code blue response
• Triage experience strongly preferred
• At least 1 professional reference from a Supervisor, Manager, Director, or Charge RN dated within the last year required for consideration
• Candidate's middle name or initial, date of birth, and last 4 digits of SSN required for consideration

Additional Information

• Orientation consists of 2 twelve-hour shifts on the unit
• Unit is staffed 24/7 with a unit secretary, ED techs, charge nurse, phlebotomy support, respiratory therapy, ED physicians, mid-level providers, OT/PT/ST, and security
• Security maintains a locked unit with a home base in the ED lobby
• Holiday coverage required for every other major holiday
• Professional scrubs in any color are acceptable
• Free parking is available in designated employee areas
• First-time travelers will be considered on a case-by-case basis with strong experience
• Local candidates are accepted
• Former employees of Advocate Health or any of its subsidiaries must have been separated for at least 12 months before being eligible
