American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Float Pool ICU position at a Level II Trauma Center in Montgomery, AL, requiring a minimum of 2 years of ICU experience and ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS certifications.

• Work setting is a 492-bed Level II Trauma Center and Primary Stroke Center with a Level III NICU
• Float Pool ICU assignment — home unit assigned on the first day of orientation from the following units: General Cardiac ICU (10 beds), CVICU (12 beds), MICU (14 beds), Neuro ICU (14 beds), or Surgical ICU (14 beds)
• Patient population varies by unit and includes STEMI, post-op CABG/valve/vascular, V-A and V-V ECMO, acute respiratory/renal/liver failure, DKA, sepsis/septic shock, CVA, SAH, SDH, multisystem trauma, and more
• Patient ratio is 1:2
• Skills required across units include: vent management, hemodynamic monitoring, arterial lines, IABP, Impella, EKOS, CRRT (PrismaFlex), chest tubes, Swan-Ganz catheters, FloTrac monitoring, titratable drip management, vasopressor and sedation management, trach care, EVD, ICP monitoring, wound care, and Tandem Heart/Tandem Lung
• EMR: Cerner (experience required or preferred for first-time travelers)
• IV pumps: Plum 360 | Medication dispensing: Omnicell | Monitors: Spacelabs
• RNs are required to read and measure telemetry/ICU monitoring strips
• 12-hour night shifts, 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM, 36 hours per week
• Every other weekend rotation required; back-to-back weekends possible but rare
• No on-call requirements
• Floating may occur to like units (ICU-to-ICU, ICU-to-MS task limited to 3, or ICU-to-ER/ICU holds)
• 6-week scheduling cycle

Requirements

• Active AL RN license or compact RN license required
• Current certifications: BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS
• Minimum 2 years of ICU experience required
• First-time travelers must have at least 2 years of experience and Cerner or Epic EMR experience
• Cerner experience strongly preferred
• CRRT experience preferred for Surgical ICU assignment
• Must reside more than 60 miles from the facility to be eligible
• AL RN license must be in process with an ETA provided at time of consideration
• Required documentation for consideration includes: 1 reference from a charge nurse or above from the past 12 months, copy of certifications, date of birth (day and month), and Social Security Number

Additional Information

• Unit support includes CNA support (1:10 ratio), a charge nurse each shift, phlebotomy, IV/VAT team, and hospitalist coverage
• Orientation includes 24 hours of classroom time and 24 hours on the unit for nurses new to the facility or returning after 1+ year absence; rehire orientation is determined based on last date worked
• Holiday coverage expected for one major and one minor seasonal holiday per facility policy
