American Traveler is hiring a travel RN for an inpatient Behavioral Health unit in Alabama, requiring psychiatric nursing experience and an AL or compact RN license.

Details

• Inpatient psychiatric unit in a hospital setting
• Patient population includes adolescents, adults, and geriatric patients
• Nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:6
• Caseload includes patients with anxiety disorders, bipolar disorders, depressive disorders, impulse control issues, psychotic disorders, schizophrenia-spectrum disorders, substance use disorders, suicidal behavior, and trauma/stressor-related disorders
• Night shift, 3x12-hour shifts (7:00 PM – 7:30 AM)
• Every other weekend required
• Floating required
• Charge nurse responsibilities may be assigned as needed

Requirements

• Active AL RN license or compact RN license currently in hand
• Current BLS certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) required
• Respiratory Fit Test required
• Prior inpatient psychiatric or behavioral health nursing experience required
• Knowledge and skills in seclusion protocols, crisis intervention, and de-escalation techniques required
• Experience with personality disorders preferred
• NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) preferred

Additional Information

• Provide psychiatric nursing care to a mixed-age population across adolescent, adult, and geriatric behavioral health patients
• Must reside more than 60 miles from the facility to qualify for travel pay rates; local candidates within 60 miles are also considered
• 8-week contract
