Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Cardiac PCU (Progressive Care Unit) position requiring a minimum of 2 years of RN experience and Epic proficiency, with a focus on cardiac and respiratory patient populations.

Details

• 30-bed private room Cardiac Medical Progressive Care Unit (PCU), operating 24/7
• Primary patient population includes cardiac diagnoses such as CHF, ACS, arrhythmias, pre/post cardiac catheterization, rule-out MI, syncope, and pacemaker placement
• Secondary patient population includes respiratory conditions such as COPD, pneumonia, and BiPAP-dependent patients
• Rooms are remotely monitored by a Centralized Cardiac Monitoring Department (CCMD)
• Patient ratio is 1:4 for patients on drips or BiPAP; otherwise predominantly 1:5
• Required skills include: dysrhythmia interpretation and management, telemetry monitoring, pre/post cardiac cath care, peripheral and PICC line management, cardiac and vasoactive drip management (including titration), procedural sedation administration, chest tube management (Emerson, Pleur-evac), external CPAP/BiPAP, and tracheostomy management
• EMR: Epic (required)
• Schedule: 3x12-hour day shifts, 7:00 AM – 7:30 PM
• Weekend rotation required; holiday coverage required as needed
• Scheduling is managed over a 6-week self-assisted schedule via Optilink, with assignments based on departmental need, patient acuity, skill mix, and previous assignments

Requirements

• Active NC or Compact RN license required
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications required
• NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification preferred
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
• Cardiac PCU experience required
• Epic EMR experience required
• Must reside at least 50 miles from the facility to be eligible for this position
• 2 professional supervisor references from within the past 2 years required for consideration
• Copy of driver's license required for consideration

Additional Information

• Experience with Rapid Response Teams preferred
• All RNs must pass a Pass/Fail EKG exam as part of compliance, regardless of specialty — two attempts are allowed; study materials will not be provided by the facility, so candidates should prepare in advance
• Nurse Assistants are available 24/7; RN Secretary support available 7:00 AM – 11:00 PM
