American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Transplant ICU position requiring a DC RN license in hand prior to start, with at least 2 years of ICU specialty experience.

• Work setting is an acute care hospital Transplant ICU (S44)
• Night shift schedule: 3x12-hour shifts, 19:00–07:30
• Every other weekend (EOW) required
• No on-call responsibilities
• Floating required within units of equivalent or lower acuity
• Patient ratio is 1:2
• 13-week contract

Requirements

• Active DC RN license required in hand prior to start date; a pending DC license may be accepted for a later start date, but proof of pending status must be provided
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications required
• Minimum 2 years of ICU specialty experience required
• Required experience includes: dysrhythmia interpretation and management, multi-system organ failure, IV insulin protocols, GI surgery, chronic/acute renal failure, IV therapy, CVA/acute stroke management, EVD, hypothermia protocol/Arctic Sun, ICP monitoring, post-neurosurgery management, spinal cord injury, TBI, respiratory/thoracic care, infection prevention, isolation precautions/PPE, phlebotomy, and surgical wounds with drains/wound vac
• Proficiency in central line care, arterial line management, PICC line management, blood product administration, ventilator management, and titration of vasoactive and cardiac drips
• Two supervisor references from within the past 2 years required
• Previous charge nurse experience preferred
• Teaching hospital experience preferred

Additional Information

• This is a Transplant ICU position; transplant experience is preferred
• Candidates must pass the Relias EKG Rhythm Interpretation Exam with at least 80% overall and 100% on lethal rhythms prior to clearance
• Post-craniotomy care, Swan-Ganz/pulmonary artery line monitoring, and chemotherapy administration are preferred skills
• Nurses with previous employment at this health system must have been separated for a minimum of one year before returning as a traveler
• Candidates residing within 60 miles of the facility are considered local and may be subject to a different rate
• No RTO is permitted during the first two weeks of the assignment; no more than 7 days of RTO per 13-week contract, and all RTO requests must be submitted upfront
• Facility-specific compliance modules must be completed within one week of signing the contract
