American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Geriatric Psychiatric / Behavioral Health position requiring at least 1 year of geri psych and med/surg experience, with night shift availability and Epic proficiency.

Details

• Inpatient Behavioral Health unit within a hospital setting
• Unit is split into two halves — a Psychiatric side and a Behavioral side — with patients placed based on their level of cognitive ability and group participation ability
• Locked unit that accepts involuntary patients; seclusion room available on unit
• Patient population includes geriatric and adult patients with diagnoses such as psychosis, dementia with or without behavioral disturbances, bipolar disorder, depression, anxiety, mood disorders, and acute psychiatric illness with cognitive impairment
• Nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:6 with an average daily census of 25
• Hands-on patient care includes incontinence care, mobility assistance, IV fluid management, wound care, and catheter care
• Specialized procedures include Foley catheter insertion and wound care; lift equipment and IV therapy training provided upon arrival
• Equipment used includes lift equipment, Voalte phones for shift communication, and panic alarms installed throughout the unit
• Safety protocols include 15-minute safety checks and 1:1 monitoring when appropriate
• EMR: Epic (experience required)
• Schedule: 12-hour night shifts (7:00 PM – 7:30 AM), 36 hours per week
• No on-call requirements
• Every other weekend required
• Floating required to adult behavioral health; may also float as a helping hand as needed

Requirements

• Active NH or Compact RN license currently in hand
• Current certifications required: BLS and CPI — AHA or Red Cross certifications only accepted
• Minimum 1 year of geriatric psychiatric inpatient unit experience required
• Medical/surgical (MS) experience required; LTC or rehab experience strongly preferred
• Experience with Foley catheterization and wound care required
• Comfort with high-acuity hands-on care including incontinence care, patients with mobility deficits, IV fluids, and catheter management
• Epic EMR experience required
• First-time travelers will not be considered
• Two professional references required for consideration

• Candidates who have ever been employed at any facility within the SolutionHealth system are not eligible for this position, regardless of length of separation
