American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Pediatric Cardiac Cath Lab (Interventional Services) position in Portland, ME, requiring a minimum of 2 years of Cath Lab and/or Interventional Radiology experience and a ME or Compact RN license.

Details

• Work setting is a hospital-based Interventional Services unit with 5 bays and 1 procedure room
• Patient population includes inpatient, outpatient, and ED patients — specifics discussed during interview
• Procedures include cardiac cath, angiograms, and IR cases such as paracentesis, thoracentesis, and nephrostomy tubes
• Responsibilities include administration of sedation and recovery of sedation patients, as well as arterial access recovery
• Charting system: Cerner; medication dispensing via Pyxis
• Day shift: 7:30 AM – 4:00 PM, 40 hours per week
• Weekend rotation required once per month
• On-call required: 1 night per week (4:00 PM – 6:00 PM) and rotating weekends
• No floating required
• Holiday expectations discussed during interview

Requirements

• Active RN license — ME or Compact license required
• Current certifications: BLS and ACLS
• Minimum 2 years of experience in a Cardiac Cath Lab and/or Interventional Radiology setting
• Experience with cardiac cath, angiograms, and IR procedures (e.g., paracentesis, thoracentesis, nephrostomy tubes)
• Experience with sedation administration and recovery, including arterial access recovery
• Experience working within a multidisciplinary team
• Flu vaccination required for employment eligibility
• 2 professional references within the past year required, at least one from a supervisor, manager, director, or charge nurse (peer references not accepted)
• Full SSN, Driver's License, and copies of all certifications required for consideration
• Candidate's permanent address must be 100+ miles south/southwest of the facility
• No previous permanent employment at any Northern Light Health Hospital

Additional Information

• First-time travelers will not be considered for this position
• An RN supervisor is present on the unit to oversee the traveler
• Orientation length is dependent on experience
• Procedural scrubs are provided by the facility
• Free parking is available on-site
• All RTO requests require manager approval
• Medical exemptions for flu vaccination are accepted on a case-by-case basis and require a minimum of 2 weeks for review by the facility's approval committee
