American Traveler is seeking a Registered Nurse for a Correctional setting in Albuquerque, NM, with a minimum of 1 year of experience and active BLS, ACLS, and MOAB certifications required.

Details

• Correctional nursing position at a large detention center facility with an average daily population of approximately 1,640 inmates
• Day shift schedule: 3x12-hour shifts, 6:00 AM – 6:30 PM
• Every other weekend required
• 36-hour weekly contract with 48-hour potential
• Block scheduling available upon request
• Charting performed in Cerner
• Free on-site parking available
• Skills required include phlebotomy, IV insertion, High Flow Nasal Cannula (HFNC), nasal cannula, non-invasive airway management, oral suctioning, oxygen face masks, portable oxygen tank operation, and isolation precautions

Requirements

• Active NM RN license or compact RN license required
• Current certifications: BLS, ACLS, and MOAB (facility will provide the 4-hour de-escalation course if not already obtained; failure to pass may result in contract cancellation)
• Minimum 1 year of RN experience required
• Proficiency in phlebotomy, IV insertion, HFNC, and non-invasive airway management required
• Cerner EMR experience required
• Must be able to pass a facility background check
• COVID vaccination required; religious and medical exemptions accepted with a completed exemption form signed by a provider
• Candidates must reside more than 100 miles from the facility to be eligible

Additional Information

• Responsibilities include providing routine and emergency healthcare, conducting health assessments, triaging and assessing newly admitted patients, performing detox rounds per protocol, and making referrals to providers, dental, and mental health professionals
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply; prior correctional experience is preferred
• RTO requests exceeding 7 days require facility approval
• All time-off requests must be submitted at the time of initial consideration
• Travelers who have worked 4 consecutive assignments or reached the one-year mark are required to take a 6-month break before returning
• New contracts and extensions must be a minimum of 10 weeks
• RQI certifications are not accepted in lieu of required certifications
