American Traveler is hiring a Registered Nurse for a Correctional unit position at a detention center in Albuquerque, NM, with MOAB certification required and correctional nursing experience preferred.

Details

• Work setting is a large detention center with a facility capacity of approximately 1,900 inmates and an average daily population of 1,640
• Correctional nursing unit serving a diverse inmate patient population across multiple areas of the facility
• Specialized skills required include phlebotomy, IV insertion, High Flow Nasal Cannula (HFNC), nasal cannula, non-invasive airway management, oral suctioning, oxygen face masks, portable oxygen tanks, and isolation precautions
• Charting performed in Cerner
• Day shift schedule: 3x12-hour shifts, 6:00 AM – 6:30 PM
• Every other weekend required
• Block scheduling can be accommodated

Requirements

• Active NM or Compact RN license required (pending license accepted)
• Current certifications required: BLS and ACLS; MOAB certification required (facility will provide the 4-hour de-escalation course if not already held — candidates who do not pass may be subject to contract cancellation)
• Minimum 1 year of RN experience required; correctional nursing experience preferred
• Must be able to pass a facility background check
• COVID vaccination required; religious and medical exemptions accepted with a completed exemption form signed by a provider
• Candidates must reside more than 100 miles from the facility to be eligible

Additional Information

• Provide routine and emergency healthcare to the inmate population
• Responsibilities include health assessments, patient triage, detoxification rounds per protocol, and referrals to providers, dental, and mental health professionals
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply; prior correctional experience is preferred
• RTO requests exceeding 7 days require approval
• A 6-month break is required for travelers who have completed 4 consecutive assignments or reached the one-year mark, whichever comes first
• New contracts and extensions must be at least 10 weeks in length
• No parking fee at the facility
• RQI certifications are not accepted
