American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Medical-Surgical position at a Level 1 Trauma academic teaching hospital, requiring a minimum of 18 months of experience and Cerner charting proficiency.

• Day shift, 3x12-hour shifts (7:00–19:30)
• 13-week contract
• Medical-surgical unit specializing in post-operative colorectal surgery patients
• Patient ratio of 1:5–6
• Cerner EMR experience required
• Travelers may be assigned to float to different levels of care including Med-Surg, PCU, and ICU at both the primary hospital and an affiliate hospital
• Travelers are expected to work every other weekend, with consecutive weekends possible based on operational needs
• Charge nurse responsibilities may be assigned with training and resources provided as needed
• Care for patients requiring negative-airflow rooms; N95 fit-testing or PAPR training required

Requirements

• Active IN or Compact RN license currently in hand
• Current BLS certification (AHA or RQI accepted)
• Minimum 18 months to 2 years of RN experience required
• Level 1 Trauma experience preferred
• Cerner charting experience required
• Nursing degree from an ACEN- or CCNE-accredited institution required
• Ability and willingness to float to varying levels of care, including PCU and ICU
• Ability to be fit-tested for N95 mask or trained on PAPR device use

Additional Information

• This is an academic teaching facility; all travel nurses must be willing to precept or be assigned students to shadow them during their assignment
• Former permanent or PRN employees of IU Health must have been separated for at least 12 months before being eligible to apply as a traveler
• Local candidates are not accepted for this Med-Surg position
• Travelers must work 2 out of 3 major holidays
• RTO of 5 days or fewer may be auto-approved
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply
• Travelers who call in for a contracted shift are expected to make up the shift within the pay period or have it added to the end of the contract, depending on FTE status
• Refusal to float may result in contract termination
• Indiana-licensed RNs are not eligible for this Med-Surg position (exemptions apply only to Periop/OR, Allied, and Ambulatory RN travelers)
