Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN Charge Nurse for a Long Term Care position in a remote Alaska facility, requiring an active AK RN license and a minimum of 4 years of charge nursing experience.

Details

• Long Term Care (LTC) setting with skilled nursing and long term acute care responsibilities
• Serves a patient population ranging from birth to elderly, including age-specific and culturally diverse considerations
• Charge Nurse role with supervisory responsibilities over unit secretaries, PCTs, CMAs, LPNs, and RNs
• Day or night shifts available with a variable shift schedule
• 13-week contract

Requirements

• Active Alaska (AK) RN license in good standing required
• Current BLS certification required for the duration of the assignment
• Minimum of 4 years of charge nursing experience in a clinic, urgent care, or comparable facility
• BSN preferred; must have completed a nursing program from an NLN-approved institution
• Proficiency in IV/central line site care, fall precautions, pain management, restraints and seclusion, blood transfusions, and end-of-life care competencies required
• Strong oral and written communication skills required
• Date of birth (DOB) and Social Security Number (SSN) required for consideration

Additional Information

• Orientation is held on Tuesday and Wednesday
• Hospital-provided housing is available and highly recommended given the remote location; shared units with private bedrooms in gender-specific housing, no dogs allowed — travelers coordinate directly with the facility
• Flight reimbursement is available for travel to and from the assignment; economy-level flights only, and detailed flight and luggage receipts must be submitted to American Traveler for reimbursement processing
• Flight itinerary must be submitted one week prior to the start date; the facility will assist with airport pickup upon arrival but does not provide return airport transportation
• A medication calculation math test (adult and pediatric) is required upon arrival and before beginning floor work
• Nurses must arrive with documentation of required JC competencies including IV/central line care, fall precautions, age-specific care, abuse/neglect, pain management, restraints and seclusion, end-of-life care, and blood transfusions
• Responsibilities include overseeing patient care delivery via the nursing process, coordinating patient flow, collaborating with interdisciplinary teams, and serving as a resource for staff
