American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a GI/Endoscopy (Endo Pre/Post & Intraop) position requiring at least 1 year of endoscopy experience and proficiency in pre/post and intraoperative endoscopy procedures.

Details

• Acute care hospital setting in a dedicated Endoscopy unit with 9 Pre/Post beds
• Unit handles 10–25 cases per day with patient ratios of 1:2–3
• Common procedures include EGDs, colonoscopies, ERCPs, PEG tube placements, and more
• Charting is performed in Cerner
• 8-hour day shifts, Monday–Friday, with shift times of 6:30 AM–3:00 PM or 7:00 AM–3:30 PM
• On-call required twice per week (from end of shift to the start of the following morning's shift)
• Weekend call required approximately once per month (end of shift Friday through start of shift Monday)
• 30-minute call response time required
• Floating between the Pre/Post area and Intraop suite is required
• No nursing aides or techs are available in the unit; anesthesia and RT are available to assist as needed
• 13-week contract

Requirements

• Active WV or compact RN license required
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications required
• Minimum 1 year of endoscopy (Endo Pre/Post and intraoperative) experience required
• Proficiency with IV starts required
• Cerner EMR experience preferred
• A copy of an unexpired driver's license is required for consideration
• Must reside more than 50 miles from the facility to be eligible for this position

Additional Information

• Preoperative responsibilities include patient assessments, documentation and consent completion, patient education, and administration of pre-procedure medications
• Postoperative responsibilities include recovery monitoring, managing pain and nausea, providing discharge instructions, and facilitating safe transfer to inpatient care when needed
• Orientation is 3–5 days
• Navy blue scrubs required and are not provided by the facility
• May be included in the holiday rotation
• Candidates who have previously worked at any WVU Medicine location must have taken a 2-year break before applying; cumulative travel experience within the WVU system is considered and cannot exceed one year total without a 2-year break
