American Traveler is hiring a travel RN for a GI/Endoscopy position requiring 3–5 years of endoscopy procedure experience and active Epic proficiency in the South Chicago area.

• Works in a GI/Endoscopy services unit at a hospital setting in South Chicago
• Patient population includes endoscopy, minor operative procedures, and pre/post procedure care
• Procedures include ERCP, upper/lower endoscopy, EUS, and Spyglass
• Experience required in both the procedure room (circulator role with ability to scrub basic tech cases) and prep/post recovery area
• Moderate sedation administration and recovery is a core component of this role
• Telemetry experience is a plus for the pre/post recovery area
• Patient ratios follow ASPN guidelines
• Epic EMR experience is required; Alaris and Pyxis also in use
• Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM, 8-hour day shifts, 40 hours per week
• Every other Saturday rotation required
• On-call required based on unit need (RN only); 30-minute response time required
• Block scheduling is not available
• No floating required

Requirements

• Active IL RN license required
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications required
• Minimum 3–5 years of endoscopy procedure and equipment experience required, with most recent experience within the last year
• Experience with ERCP, upper/lower endoscopy, EUS, and Spyglass required
• Pre/post procedure area experience required (2–4 years)
• Epic EMR experience required
• Ability to circulate and scrub basic tech cases
• 1 professional reference dated within the last year, from a Supervisor, Manager, Director, or Charge RN
• Candidate DOB and last 4 digits of SSN required for consideration
• Candidate middle name or initial required for consideration
• No artificial fingernails or nail extenders permitted; natural nail tips must be kept under ¼ inch

Additional Information

• First-time travelers are considered on a case-by-case basis
• Local candidates are accepted at the same rate — no radius restriction
• Former employees of Advocate Health or any of its subsidiaries must have been separated for at least 12 months before being eligible
• Support staff on the unit includes a charge nurse (who may carry a patient assignment), unit secretary, IV/VAT team, resource nurse, respiratory therapy, hospitalist, and OT/PT/ST available during the week
• Orientation consists of one shift to learn unit flow
• Up to one week of time off may be approved during the assignment
• Summer holiday coverage: 2 of the 3 holidays (Memorial Day, Labor Day, July 4th)
• Winter holiday coverage: 1 from each group — Thanksgiving Day or the day after; Christmas Eve or Christmas Day; New Year's Eve or New Year's Day
• Scrub color: navy or procedural scrubs depending on area worked
