American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Pediatric OR position requiring 2+ years of acute OR experience and the ability to scrub and circulate across a wide range of complex pediatric surgical cases.

• Pediatric hospital Operating Room setting serving patients from neonates through age 18, including adult-sized pediatric patients
• Diverse surgical case types include neurosurgery (craniotomies, EVDs, shunts), spine (scoliosis repairs, spinal injuries), ortho (ACL repairs, hip osteotomies, arthroscopies), urology (hypospadias repair, orchiopexy, inguinal hernias), GYN (ovarian torsion, endometriosis, IUD placements), ENT (tonsillectomy/adenoidectomy, PE tubes, tracheotomies), general surgery (lap/open appendectomies, cholecystectomies), oncology (tumor resections), and pediatric traumas (MVAs, GSWs, shaken baby)
• Patient population may include developmentally delayed individuals and those with congenital anomalies
• Robotics (DaVinci XI) cases performed in this unit
• EMR: Epic
• 10-hour day shifts (0645–1715)
• 40 hours per week
• Weekend rotation is unlikely but possible if regular weekend staff are unavailable; typically only on-call on weekends
• On-call required approximately 2 weeknights (1900–0700) and 1 weekend (Friday 1900 – Monday 0700) every 6 weeks, with a 30-minute response time
• Floating may include assisting in the PICU with procedures, NICU cases at the connected Tacoma General campus, and assisting anesthesia with procedures (e.g., intubations in MRI or IR)

Requirements

• Active WA State RN license or compact RN license required
• Current BLS and PALS certifications required; CNOR preferred
• Minimum 2 years of acute OR experience required; candidates with only 2 years must demonstrate high-level OR experience
• Pediatric OR experience strongly preferred; candidates with combined adult and peds OR experience will be considered
• Scrubbing and circulating experience required across complex surgical case types
• Highly preferred skills: IV starts, scrub experience, robotics, high-level neuro, ophthalmology, and dental cases
• Epic EMR experience
• Must be available to respond to on-call within 30 minutes
• Two references from a supervisor or above (Charge Nurse, Manager, Director, or equivalent) required prior to start; one reference accepted at time of consideration

• Responsibilities include both scrubbing and circulating across a broad range of pediatric surgical specialties
• Candidates who are missing highly preferred skills (robotics, high-level neuro, ophthalmology, dental) may be submitted for manager review on a case-by-case basis
• First-time travelers are generally not considered unless the candidate has 5+ years of extensive OR and pediatric experience
• Scrubs are provided by the facility
