American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for an Interventional Radiology position at a Magnet-designated Level III Trauma Center in Milwaukee, WI, requiring both General IR and Neuro IR experience with on-call availability.

• Hospital-based Interventional Radiology department in Milwaukee, WI — a 933-bed, Magnet-designated, Level III Trauma Center and Comprehensive Stroke Center
• Adult-only patient population; no pediatric cases
• General IR procedures include kyphoplasty/vertebroplasty, central lines/PICCs/ports, fistulograms, IVC filters, nephrostomy tubes, nephroureteral stents, peripheral leg cases, coil embolization, thoracentesis/paracentesis, and CT-guided procedures (biopsies, cryos, drains); AAA intervention experience preferred
• Neuro IR procedures include strokes, embolization, DSA, WADA tests, and spinal angios (DSA/WADA/spinal angios not performed at night)
• Department operates 24/7 and sees approximately 40–50 patients per day
• 10-hour day shifts, Monday–Friday; schedule may include a mix of 8-hour and 12-hour shifts or four 10-hour shifts
• Weekday call: one shift per week (Monday–Thursday), end-of-shift until 0700 the following morning
• Weekend call: once every 5th–6th weekend (Friday–Sunday), end-of-shift Friday through Monday at 0700
• Travelers with Neuro IR experience may be asked to take Neuro call in addition to General IR call depending on staffing needs
• No floating required
• EMR: Epic (experience preferred)
• Equipment includes Siemens and GE imaging systems (experience preferred), Alaris IV pumps, Pyxis medication dispensing, MedRad injector, and Change Healthcare PACS

Requirements

• Active WI or compact RN license required
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications required
• Minimum 12 months of IR nursing experience, with most recent experience within the last year
• Experience with both General IR and Neuro IR procedures required
• Proficiency in moderate sedation administration, patient monitoring, assessment, and Foley catheter placement
• Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment and respond quickly and safely during emergencies
• Must be able to arrive on-site within 30 minutes of being paged for call
• COVID vaccination required
• At least one professional reference from a Supervisor, Manager, Director, or Charge RN dated within the past year
• Candidate DOB and last 4 digits of SSN required for consideration
• Candidate middle name or initial required for consideration

Additional Information

• Administer moderate sedation for IR and Neuro IR procedures unless anesthesia is involved; monitor and chart patient progress throughout
• Orientation includes 1–2 weeks with a preceptor and competency check-off
• Unit support includes two coordinators, two lead techs, two or more techs per exam room, tech specialists, and 24/7 Respiratory Therapy, Hospitalist, and CNA/Transporter coverage
• Scrubs are provided by the facility
• Free parking available in an on-site parking structure
• Up to 7 days of RTO may be approved
• Holidays are not currently required but are subject to change (call coverage only if applicable)
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply provided they have IR experience
