American Traveler is seeking an experienced ICU RN with a minimum of 2 years of experience, ventilator and vasopressor titration skills, and Epic proficiency for a night shift contract position.

Details

• Hospital ICU setting serving an adult to geriatric patient population
• High volume of ventilators and arterial lines (A-lines)
• Patient ratio of 1:2–3
• Travelers are not assigned to CRRT patients unless competency on the Baxter PrisMax machine can be demonstrated
• Night shift, 3x12-hour shifts (19:00–07:00)
• Every other weekend required
• Floating within facility and scope of practice may be required, including to a sister campus
• No on-call requirements
• Epic (required), Pyxis, and SBAR communication used on the unit

Requirements

• Active GA or Compact RN license required
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications required
• Minimum 2 years of ICU experience required
• Proficiency with titration of continuous infusions including sedation agents, pain medications, paralytic agents, and vasopressors
• Epic EMR experience required
• Baxter PrisMax machine competency required to care for CRRT patients

• Navy blue scrubs required
• Multidisciplinary morning rounds include the intensivist, bedside RN, PharmD, RRT, OT/PT, dietitian, case manager, and wound care team
• Bedside RNs are responsible for patient transport (e.g., to CT), accompanied by a tech and RRT when the patient is on a ventilator
• Night shift NPs place central lines, vascaths, and A-lines, attend all codes, address ICU care issues, and admit patients from the ED — they are first call before the intensivist
• Holiday coverage is required: if 1 or 2 major holidays fall within the assignment period, travelers are expected to work all of them with no holiday RTO permitted; if 3 major holidays fall within the assignment period, travelers are expected to work 2, and one holiday RTO request may be submitted for approval
• Major holidays include Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving/Black Friday, Christmas Eve/Christmas Day, and New Year's Eve/New Year's Day
• RTO maximum is 7 days; RTO cannot be requested during the first week of the assignment
• Travelers must have been away from all facilities within this health system for a full year before returning as a traveler
• No schedule change requests are accepted — the posted night shift is firm
• Full compliance with onboarding requirements is necessary to begin on time
