American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for an Emergency Department position at a Level I Trauma, Teaching Hospital in New Mexico, with TNCC required and a strong preference for prior travel or Level I Trauma experience.

• Emergency Department (ED) at a Level I Trauma, Children's Hospital, Academic Teaching Hospital with 554 staffed beds
• Approximately 60–80% of the ED census consists of admitted/hold patients, with many rooms functioning as ED Holding
• Patient ratio of 1:5
• Night shift schedule: 3x12-hour shifts, 19:00–07:30
• 36 or 48-hour work weeks
• Weekends are required as needed; weekend nights are considered Friday, Saturday, and Sunday
• No on-call requirement
• Floating to Adult PCUs is an expectation based on staffing needs; floating to Peds ED is optional; potential floating to ED Holding and Trauma based on experience
• Block scheduling is not available
• Charting is performed in Cerner
• Black scrubs required, not provided by the facility
• Free parking on-site
• 13-week assignment

Requirements

• Active NM or Compact RN license required; NM license may be pending at time of submission
• Minimum 2 years of ED RN experience required; candidates with 1.5 years may be reviewed on a case-by-case basis
• Level I Trauma experience strongly preferred
• Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS, TNCC, and NIH Stroke Scale — TNCC must be in hand prior to consideration; NIH Stroke Scale may be pending until compliance due date
• RQI certifications are not accepted in place of standard required certifications
• COVID vaccination required; religious or medical exemptions accepted with a completed exemption form signed by a provider
• Must reside more than 100 miles from the facility to be eligible for this position
• 2 professional references from a supervisor within the past 2 years required for consideration
• Full 7-year work history with all gaps explained required for consideration

Additional Information

• Travelers should expect their caseload to include, and may consist primarily of, admitted hold patients due to currently elevated admit hold volumes
• Responsibilities include medication administration via IV and the seven medication rights, as well as documenting and communicating clinical findings
• Travel experience is strongly preferred; first-time travelers may be considered if they have 2+ years of Level I Trauma experience
• RTO exceeding 7 days requires facility approval; all scheduling requests must be submitted at the time of initial application
• Travelers who have worked 4 consecutive assignments or reached a one-year tenure mark are required to take a 6-month break before returning
