American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for an Emergency Department position at a Level I Trauma, Children's, and Teaching Hospital in New Mexico, with TNCC certification and a preference for prior travel experience.

• Emergency Department (ED) at a 554-bed Level I Trauma, Children's Hospital, and acute care teaching facility in New Mexico
• Approximately 60–80% of the ED consists of admitted/boarding patients, with many rooms functioning as ED Holding
• Patient ratio of 1:5
• Night shift schedule: 7p–7:30a, 3x12-hour shifts per week, with some assignments involving 36 or 48-hour shift weeks
• Travelers will be scheduled for weekends as needed; weekend nights are considered Friday, Saturday, and Sunday
• Floating to Adult PCUs is an expectation based on staffing needs; floating to Peds ED is optional; potential floating to ED Holding and Trauma based on experience
• No on-call requirements
• Block scheduling is not available
• Charting is done in Cerner
• Scrubs must be black and are not provided by the facility
• No parking fee

Requirements

• Active NM or Compact RN license required; NM license may be pending at time of submission
• Minimum 2 years of ED RN experience required; 1.5 years may be reviewed on a case-by-case basis
• Level I Trauma experience preferred
• Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS, NIH Stroke Scale (NIH), and Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC) — TNCC must be in hand prior to consideration; NIH may be pending until compliance due date
• RQI certifications are not accepted in place of required certs
• COVID vaccination required; religious and medical exemptions accepted with a completed exemption form signed by a provider
• Candidates must reside more than 100 miles from the facility to be eligible

Additional Information

• Travelers should expect their assignments to include, and potentially consist primarily of, admitted/boarding patients due to a currently elevated volume of admit holds
• Responsibilities include medication administration (including IV medications via the seven medication rights) and documentation and communication of clinical findings
• Travel experience is strongly preferred; first-time travelers may be considered if they have 2+ years of Level I Trauma experience
• RTO requests exceeding 7 days require facility approval; all scheduling requests should be submitted at the time of application
• A 6-month break is required for travelers who have worked 4 consecutive assignments or reached the one-year mark at this facility, whichever comes first
