American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a PACU position at a Level II Trauma Center in Green Bay, WI, requiring a minimum of 2 years of Phase I/Phase II PACU experience and CAPA or CPAN certification.

• Located at a 167-bed Level II Trauma Center, Level III NICU, Level III Maternity Center, and Primary Stroke Center in Green Bay, WI
• Unit includes two PACU areas (Main and East) within the same building, featuring a combined 66 pre/post rooms and 27 Phase I PACU bays
• Cares for both pediatric and adult patients across inpatient, outpatient, and observation settings, with an average of 60–80 patients per day combined
• Surgical specialties include general, plastics, urology, GI, bariatrics, GYN, minor vascular, neurosurgery (spine and craniotomies), robotics, ophthalmology, orthopedics, cardiothoracic (thoracotomies/pericardial windows, no open hearts), ENT, endovascular, fistulas, bronchoscopies, post-cath, and post-IR/Neuro IR
• Patient ratios: Pre-op 1:3, Phase I 1:2, Phase II 1:3
• EMR: Epic (required)
• IV pump: Alaris; medication dispensing: Pyxis
• 8-hour day shifts, 9:00 AM–7:30 PM, Monday–Friday on a set schedule
• Travelers float regularly between Phase I and Phase II recovery areas across Main and East PACUs
• No weekend rotation, no on-call, and no holiday requirements
• 13-week contract

Requirements

• Active WI or Compact RN license required
• Current certifications required: BLS, ACLS, PALS, and either CAPA or CPAN
• Minimum 2 years of Phase I and Phase II PACU experience required
• Experience recovering post-cath, bronchoscopy, and IR patients highly preferred; candidates with minimal or no experience in these areas require manager approval
• Hard stop skills required: arterial lines, TR bands, chest tubes, CBI, and Epic
• Ability to read and interpret cardiac rhythms and manage cardiac drips
• Epic EMR experience required
• Must be able to provide discharge instructions and work both Phase I and Phase II recovery
• Minimum 1 professional reference from a Supervisor, Manager, Director, or Charge RN, dated within the past year
• Candidate's middle name or initial, date of birth, and last 4 digits of SSN required for consideration

Additional Information

• Nurses will receive a daily staffing sheet indicating whether to report to Main PACU (2nd floor) or East PACU (1st floor)
• Occasional intubated patients or assistance with intubation in the PACU may occur; vented/ICU-level patients are typically transferred to the ICU post-OR
• Department support includes a Charge RN, CNA/LPN staff, Hospitalists (24/7), Respiratory Therapy (24/7), Anesthesiologists/CRNAs, and Surgeons
• Bedside and nursing station telemetry available; no dedicated Tele Tech
• Orientation consists of new employee orientation (NEO) plus 2 eight-hour shifts in the department
• RTO is capped at 4 days for the duration of the contract
• Scrubs must be a solid color, professional, with no logos, graphics, or designs
• Free on-site parking available
• First-time travelers may be considered if they have extensive PACU experience
• Former employees of Advocate Health or any of its subsidiaries must be separated for at least 12 months before being eligible
• Candidates who were previously permanent staff in this facility's PACU will not be considered
• Local candidates are accepted at the same rate with no radius restrictions
