Description

American Traveler is seeking a travel RN for a Palliative Care position at a cancer hospital, requiring a minimum of 2 years of RN experience and Epic proficiency.

Details

• Palliative Care unit (11th floor) within a cancer hospital setting
• Patient population includes those receiving end-of-life comfort care as well as patients still undergoing active treatment with complex symptom management needs (uncontrolled pain, severe nausea/vomiting, failure to thrive, fatigue)
• This is a newly opening unit; travelers starting before the unit opens will float to inpatient units of equivalent or lower acuity during the orientation period
• Floating to inpatient units of equivalent or lower acuity is required
• Primary shift: Nights, 3x12-hour shifts (7:00 PM – 7:00 AM)
• If accepting a 12-hour day/night rotating contract, shift assignments (days, nights, or a combination) are determined by department needs and reviewed every 4-week scheduling period
• 13-week contract
• Epic EMR — experience required

Requirements

• Active OH RN license or compact RN license currently in hand
• Current BLS certification required
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
• Epic EMR experience required
• Previous travel nursing experience preferred

• Responsibilities include providing symptom management and end-of-life comfort care to palliative patients in a cancer hospital environment
• Pre-unit-opening float assignments provide exposure to the varied patient populations the palliative care unit will serve
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply
• Changing representation between assignments does not require a 30-day break
• 2 professional references from a supervisor within the past 2 years required for consideration
• All time-off and scheduling requests must be submitted at the time of initial consideration
