American Traveler is hiring a travel RN for a PCU/Med-Surg/Oncology position at a Level I Trauma Center, requiring at least 1 year of oncology and PCU experience with ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS certifications.

• Mixed PCU/Med-Surg/Oncology unit in a Level I Trauma Center (acute care hospital setting)
• 28-bed unit serving adult oncology and trauma patient populations
• Common diagnoses include oncology (diagnosis through remission) and trauma
• PCU nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:4 (days) and 1:5-6 (nights); Med/Surg ratio of 1:5
• Common drips include chemotherapy, heparin, cardizem, and protonix; RNs may be required to titrate insulin and cardizem
• Competencies in ventilator management and hemodynamic monitoring (CVP, A-line, Swan, EV-1000) are utilized on this unit; real-time training available
• IV pumps used: Alaris
• EMR: Epic (experience within the past 6 months is noted during orientation planning, but is not a dealbreaker)
• 12-hour night shifts (7p–7a)
• Every other weekend required
• Self-scheduling unit
• Floating required to same level of care (Med/Surg and PCU units)
• 13-week contract

Requirements

• Active NE state or Compact (NLC) RN license required; must be active at time of consideration — pending licenses are not accepted
• Active certifications required: ACLS, BLS (AHA), NIHSS, and ONS/ONCC; pending certifications are not accepted
• Minimum 1 year of oncology and PCU experience required
• Minimum 1 year of charge nurse experience required
• Chemo certification preferred but not required
• BSN not required
• Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility (driver's license used to verify permanent address)
• Candidates may not be currently employed (full-time, part-time, or PRN) at any CommonSpirit-affiliated facility, including CHI and/or Dignity; those placed PRN through outside staffing firms will be considered
• Two professional references required: one supervisor from within the last 12 months and one peer or supervisor from within the last 3 years, both must include dates of employment and eligibility for rehire
• Driver's license required for consideration
• Date of birth, SSN, phone, email, and permanent address required for consideration

Additional Information

• Nurses on this unit care for oncology patients across the full spectrum, from diagnosis through remission or end-of-life, as well as trauma PCU patients
• Multidisciplinary team support includes nursing assistants, a charge nurse, PT/OT, RN case manager, social worker, educator, and dietician
• Scrub color: Navy blue
• Artificial nails are prohibited in all patient care departments; refusal to remove artificial nails will result to contract termination
• A pass/fail, open-book exam is administered during orientation; a score of 90% or higher is required to continue the assignment
• Orientation is approximately 2 days (12 orientation hours)
• RTO must be submitted upfront; a maximum of 7 days RTO is allowed per 13-week contract and additional RTO will not be approved after consideration

• Hourly rounding is a patient experience focus on this unit
