American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a PACU position at a short-term acute care teaching hospital in Winter Haven, FL, with on-call requirements and a 1:2 patient ratio.

Details

• Post-anesthesia care unit (PACU) at a 447-bed short-term acute care teaching hospital
• Patient population includes surgical outpatients and inpatients, as well as interventional radiology (IR) procedure patients
• Provides post-op care for general surgical procedures and IR patients
• Patient ratio of 1:2
• Equipment used includes Hoyer lifts, bladder scanners, and Dopplers
• Charting is done in Cerner
• Day shift, 4x10-hour shifts with variable start times between 9:00–10:00 and end times between 19:30–20:30
• On-call required one night per week and every third weekend (days and nights)
• Travelers are scheduled as needed with no blocked scheduling

Requirements

• Active FL or Compact RN license currently in hand (pending licenses not accepted)
• Current certifications required: BLS, ACLS, and PALS
• Minimum 1 year of PACU experience required; first-time travelers with prior ICU experience will be considered
• 2 professional references from a supervisor within the past 2 years
• State Board of Nursing license verification and NURSYS verification required for consideration

• Royal blue scrubs required
• Local candidates are not accepted for this position
• RTO cannot be written into the contract per facility policy; any time-off requests may be verbally approved by the manager but will not be contractually guaranteed — candidates must be comfortable with this arrangement
