American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Behavioral Health Inpatient Psychiatric position in Lafayette, IN, requiring at least 2 years of experience and crisis intervention skills.

Details

• Acute inpatient behavioral health and addictions hospital setting
• Inpatient behavioral health unit with 48 beds across two units; staff rotate between units
• Adult patient population with diagnoses including substance abuse disorders, mood disorders, psychotic disorders, PTSD, and anxiety disorders
• Patient ratio of 12:1 (varies based on census)
• Day shift: 7:00 AM – 7:30 PM
• 36 hours per week (full time)
• Every 3rd weekend required (Saturday and Sunday)
• No on-call requirements
• Charting is primarily paper-based; HCS platform used for order entry; Pyxis used for medication dispensing
• Patients must be medically cleared prior to admission; patients with lines or tubes (with the exception of CPAP users and those requiring 2L O2 or less) are excluded

Requirements

• Active RN license in Indiana or a Compact state currently in hand
• Current AHA certifications: BLS/CPR and Handle With Care (HWC)
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience preferred
• Experience with crisis intervention, verbal de-escalation, active listening, and empathetic communication preferred
• Accurate and thorough charting skills and behavioral management skills preferred
• Social Security number and date of birth required for consideration

Additional Information

• Provide nursing care to adult behavioral health and addictions patients across two inpatient units on a rotating basis
• Common responsibilities include behavioral management, de-escalation, and documentation
• Navy blue scrubs required; hoodies are not permitted
• Candidates must reside more than 60 miles from the facility to be eligible for this position
• Candidates who have worked as permanent staff at any LifePoint facility within the last 12 months are not eligible
• Candidates cannot be employed full time elsewhere during this assignment
