American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a PCU/Intermediate Care Unit position at a 5-time Magnet-designated, Level 1 Trauma teaching hospital, requiring at least 2 years of recent telemetry experience and both MO/KS or compact licensure.

• 24-bed Intermediate Care Unit (PCU/IMC/Stepdown) within a 456-bed tertiary care, Level 1 Trauma, Magnet-designated teaching hospital
• Patient population includes intermediate medical patients and surgical overflow, including TURPs, laparoscopic cholecystectomy, appendectomy, hernia repair, eye surgery, oral surgery, diabetic teaching, and wound care
• Fast-paced unit serving as a throughput bridge from both the ED and OR
• Patient ratio is 1:5; on rare occasions may flex to 1:6
• Night shift: 3x12-hour shifts, 18:45–07:15
• 8 weekend shifts required per 6-week schedule period, with shifts falling on Friday, Saturday, or Sunday
• Floating between departments, units, and facilities may be required
• No on-call requirements
• Block scheduling is not available
• Charting is performed using Epic
• Navy scrubs required
• Free parking available

Requirements

• Active MO and KS RN licenses (or compact equivalent) must be in hand — both are required due to potential floating between facilities
• Current BLS and NIHSS certifications required
• Minimum 2 years of recent telemetry specialty experience required, including at least 1 full year of in-specialty experience within the past 12 months with no employment gap greater than 90 days
• Required skills include: cardiac dysrhythmia interpretation and management, telemetry monitoring, Rapid Response Team protocols, IV insulin protocols, feeding tube care, continuous bladder irrigation (CBI), port access, blood product administration, central/PICC/peripheral line management, IV insertion, heparin protocols, PCA management, CVA care, oxygen therapy (nasal cannula, face mask, portable tank), wound care/wound vac, and isolation precautions
• Preferred skills include: insulin drip titration, renal failure management, ortho trauma, total joint replacements, surgical drain management, tracheostomy management, and experience with eye surgery patients
• 2 professional references required: at least one must be at the supervisor level or above; the second may be a charge RN; all references must be from individuals who have worked with the candidate within the past year
• SSN required for consideration

Additional Information

• Candidates residing within a 50-mile radius of the facility are not eligible for this position
• First-time travelers will not be considered for this position
• Travel partners are not accepted
• Holiday shifts and charge RN assignments may be required as needed
• RTO requests must be submitted at time of consideration; maximum of 7 days of RTO allowed for the contract
• Pre-start compliance modules are required (approximately 10–15 hours total) and must be completed prior to the start date
• Drug screening is required; a diluted or positive result that cannot be cleared will result in assignment cancellation and a 6-month reapplication waiting period
