American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for an Emergency Department position at a high-volume, Level 2 trauma center in Asheville, NC, requiring 2+ years of ED experience and multiple certifications including TNCC and ACLS.

Details

• 101-bed Emergency Department at a high-volume facility serving a diverse, multi-cultural community with over 120 languages spoken in the area
• Patient ratios are typically 4:1 for medical patients and up to 7:1 for ED behavioral holds
• Unit support includes ED techs (cardiac monitoring and internal processing), triage staff, and unit clerks on days and nights
• Equipment includes Baxter pumps and GE monitors
• Charting is done in Cerner
• Day shift: 6:45 AM – 7:15 PM
• Every other weekend required; block scheduling is not available
• No floating outside of the ED, but flexibility to float between all sections within the ED is required

Requirements

• Active NC or compact RN license required
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience, with at least 1 year in an ED setting
• Experience in a Level 2 trauma center, comprehensive stroke center, or high-volume ED (100,000+ visits annually) strongly preferred
• Required certifications prior to start: BLS, ACLS, PALS, TNCC, CPI (or accepted equivalent: SAMA, MAB, or ACPMA), and NIHSS
• ENPC required within 90 days of start
• All certifications must be issued by AHA or ARC and may not expire within the first 30 days of the assignment
• Previous HCA experience preferred
• Teamwork mentality and ability to coach and give real-time feedback
• No gaps in work history of 90 days or more within the past 12 months
• US SSN and date of birth required for consideration
• One professional reference required

Additional Information

• Orientation consists of a 4-hour hospital orientation followed by an 8-hour floor shift
• Navy scrubs required (all navy, all white, or a combination of navy and white)
• The ED team is known for strong teamwork and a welcoming culture
• Tobacco use is strictly prohibited on all campus properties, including personal vehicles in campus parking areas
• Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility; local candidates are not accepted
• 13-week assignment
