American Traveler is hiring a Critical Care Float RN for a hospital-based float pool role requiring Epic proficiency and experience across ICU, PCU, and Med-Surg settings.

Details

• Hospital-based Critical Care Float pool position covering ICU, Neuro ICU, CVICU, PCU, MS/Tele, and general Med-Surg units
• Adult to geriatric patient population
• Patient ratios: 1:2–3 in ICU, 1:4–5 in PCU, and 1:5–6 in MS/MS Tele
• Primary float assignment is ICU, with the possibility of floating to any MS, MS/Tele, PCU, or ICU unit within the hospital
• Day shift, 3x12-hour shifts (7:00–19:00)
• Every other weekend required (averaging 6 weekends over a 13-week contract)
• No on-call requirements
• Uses Epic (required), Pyxis, and SBAR
• Floating is required

Requirements

• Active GA or Compact RN license required
• Current certifications required: BLS, ACLS, and NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS)
• Minimum 1 year of RN experience required
• Proficiency with Epic EMR required
• Must have experience across ICU and med-surg level care settings
• Copies of all required certifications must be provided for consideration
• Two supervisory references (Manager level or above; charge nurses not accepted) are highly preferred for consideration

• First-time travelers are welcome to apply
• Local candidates are accepted
• RTO is capped at 7 days per contract and may not be requested during the first week of the assignment
• RTO blackout dates apply during Spring Break (April 4–12)
• If one or two major holidays fall within the assignment period, the traveler is expected to work all of them and no holiday RTO will be approved; if three major holidays fall within the assignment period, the traveler must work at least two, and one holiday RTO request may be submitted for review
• Major holidays include: Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving/Black Friday, Christmas Eve/Christmas Day, and New Year's Eve/New Year's Day
• Travelers must be away from all facilities within this health system for a minimum of one full year before returning as a travel nurse
• No scheduling changes, alternate shifts, or special schedule requests are permitted — the posted shift is firm
• Navy blue scrubs are required
• Timely compliance with all onboarding requirements is essential, as orientation is conducted on a bi-weekly schedule
