American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN Nurse Manager for a Trauma ICU (TICU) position at a Level II Trauma Center in Reno, NV, requiring 5+ years of managerial experience in a critical care setting.

Details

• Position is based in the Trauma ICU (TICU) of a Level II Trauma Center and regional referral center serving northern Nevada
• The facility is the only trauma center between Sacramento and Salt Lake City, treating over 80,000 ER and trauma patients annually
• Schedule is typically Monday–Friday, 8a–5p or 7a–4p, with occasional presence outside those hours based on business needs
• Full-time, 40-hour work week; schedule may include weekends, holidays, and some call shifts
• One additional shift pick-up is required during the contract period
• Call requirements to be discussed during interview
• Floating to other units may be required up to the candidate's competency level
• EMR: Epic — training provided during orientation, or candidates may test out

Requirements

• Active NV RN license required; RNs who have never held a NV license must apply immediately upon offer
• Current BLS certification (AHA only) required; professional certification preferred
• Minimum 5 years of nursing management experience at a Level I or II Trauma Facility required
• Critical Care/ICU experience required
• Must be able to step into direct patient care when unit demands require it
• RNFA qualifications preferred: graduate of an accredited School of Nursing, completion of an RNFA program including didactic and supervised clinical practice based on AORN's core curriculum

Additional Information

• Responsible for 24-hour oversight of patient care delivery, staffing, budgeting, and operational performance in alignment with Federal, State, TJC, and CARF requirements
• Accountable for hiring, training, counseling, evaluating, and guiding the professional growth of nursing staff
• Acts as a change agent and transitional leader, fostering a learning organization through empowerment and evidence-based nursing practice
• Maintains collaborative relationships with physicians, community stakeholders, and interdepartmental teams to ensure high-quality, cost-effective care
• Minimum of 2 major holidays required during the contract period
• Candidates must reside more than 60 miles from the facility to be eligible; local candidates are not accepted
• Returning travelers must observe a 13-week break after completing a contract before being eligible to return
• Blocked scheduling is not allowed; all assignments are 13 weeks
• Requested time off (RTO) must be disclosed prior to consideration and will not be added to the end of the contract
