American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Labor & Delivery position at an acute care facility, requiring 3+ years of L&D experience including C-section care and high-risk OB proficiency.

Details

• 13-week contract on a night shift schedule (6:00 PM – 6:00 AM), 12-hour shifts
• Labor & Delivery unit within an acute care, Level 3 Trauma hospital
• Unit consists of 7 L&D beds, 2 triage beds, 10 postpartum beds, averaging 1–3 births per day (~830 births/year)
• Typical nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:2
• May float to the ED or Med/Surg unit if experienced
• Must be able to function in both L&D and couplet care as census demands
• Minimum of 3 weekend shifts required per 4-week schedule
• One on-call shift required per 4-week schedule
• Charting system: Allscripts
• OB/Neonatologist is not in-house; 24/7 pharmacy and respiratory therapy are available on unit

Requirements

• Active AZ or Compact RN license required
• Certifications required: BLS, ACLS, NRP, NIHSS, and AWHONN Intermediate (or Advanced) Fetal Monitoring
• Minimum 3 years of L&D nursing experience required
• C-section experience required
• Strong fetal monitoring proficiency and ability to respond appropriately to fetal distress required
• Experience managing high-risk OB patients, including pre-eclampsia, required
• Ability to independently assess and manage OB emergencies until provider arrival is essential
• BSN not required

Additional Information

• Orientation is scheduled every Monday and consists of approximately 8 hours
• Support staff on unit includes OB scrub tech, Patient Care Technicians, Health Unit Coordinator, and a Respiratory Therapist available 24/7
• Because no in-house OB or Neonatologist is present, nurses must be highly proficient in assessment skills and emergency response
• Nurses should be prepared to provide couplet care when census is low and LDRPs are utilized as postpartum beds
