American Traveler is seeking an experienced Emergency Department RN for a 13-week travel contract requiring 2 years of ED experience and multiple certifications including ACLS, PALS, and TNCC.

Details

• Acute care hospital Emergency Department setting with 18 beds/trauma bays
• Certified stroke center with high-acuity patient population spanning all age groups
• Common diagnoses include chest pain, abdominal pain, sepsis, stroke, orthopedic injuries, ENT emergencies, and behavioral health
• Common drips include antibiotics, narcotics, anti-emetics, vaccines, and emergency medications
• Patient ratio of 1:4–5 based on acuity
• 12-hour shifts available across multiple shift options: 7a–7p, 11a–11p, 3p–3a, and 7p–7a
• Schedule is leadership-assigned based on unit needs; block scheduling is difficult to accommodate
• Every other weekend required
• No floating required
• EMR: Epic (required)
• IV pumps: Alaris
• Telehealth is utilized in this department

Requirements

• Active NE or Compact (NLC) RN license required; pending licenses not accepted
• Minimum 2 years of ED experience required
• Required certifications (all must be active; pending not accepted): BLS, ACLS, PALS, NIHSS, TNCC, and HSS Team (workplace violence training)
• Driver's license required for consideration and used to verify candidate address for radius compliance
• 2 professional references required: one supervisor from within the last 12 months and one peer or supervisor from within the last 3 years, both including dates of employment and eligibility for rehire
• Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility to be eligible for the position

Additional Information

• Candidates may not have been directly employed full-time, part-time, or PRN by any CommonSpirit-affiliated facility (including CHI and/or Dignity) within the past year; candidates employed PRN through outside firms will be considered
• A pass/fail open-book skills exam is administered during orientation; a score of 90% or higher is required to pass — failure to pass may result to contract termination
• Unit-specific orientation consists of 2 shifts
• A charge nurse is present on each shift and carries a patient assignment
• RTO requests of 7 days or fewer per 13-week contract must be submitted upfront; additional RTO will not be approved
• Scrub color: Navy blue
• Artificial nails are prohibited in all patient care areas; refusal to remove them may result in contract termination
