American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Psychiatric position at a general hospital, specializing in geriatric adults with medical comorbidities, with a valid CT RN license required.

• 78-bed general hospital setting
• Psychiatric unit focused on geriatric adults with multiple medical comorbidities
• Patient population includes diagnoses such as depression, suicidal ideation (SI), schizophrenia, and bipolar disorder with medical comorbidities
• Patients are frequently total care, requiring comprehensive nursing support
• Procedures include facilitating therapeutic groups, managing voluntary and involuntary patient status, restraints, and seclusion
• Night shift: 6:45 PM – 7:15 AM, working every other weekend
• Holiday rotation required

Requirements

• Active, unrestricted CT RN license (or compact license with CT as primary state) required
• Current BLS certification (AHA only) required
• CPI (Crisis Prevention Intervention) or CMT certification required
• Minimum 2 years of psychiatric nursing experience required
• 5 years of experience preferred
• Experience with geriatric and dementia care preferred
• Med/surg background preferred
• Two professional references rated 'standard or above average' from a manager or above within the past year in the same specialty are required for consideration

Additional Information

• Responsibilities include providing care to geriatric psychiatric patients, facilitating therapeutic groups, and managing both voluntary and involuntary patient statuses including restraints and seclusion
• Timekeeping is managed through the Kronos system
• Candidates living within 60 miles of the facility may be considered as local candidates
• Candidates who have previously worked at any Northwell/Nuvance Health location may be subject to an eligibility review process before consideration
