American Traveler is hiring a travel RN for a Geriatric Psychiatric unit at a small general hospital in Connecticut, requiring a CT or compact RN license and a minimum of 2 years of psych experience.

Details

• 78-bed general hospital setting
• Geriatric adult psychiatric unit with patients presenting with depression, suicidal ideation, schizophrenia, and bipolar disorder alongside significant medical comorbidities
• Patients are frequently total care, requiring a well-rounded clinical skill set
• Day shift: 6:45 AM – 7:15 PM
• Every other weekend required
• Holiday rotation required

Requirements

• Active CT RN license (standard or compact) required; a screenshot or photo of a completed license application may be submitted if the license is pending
• Current BLS certification (AHA only accepted)
• CPI or CMT certification required
• Minimum 2 years of psychiatric nursing experience required
• Med/surg and psych combined background preferred
• 5 or more years of experience preferred
• Experience with geriatric and dementia populations preferred
• Two professional references from previous managers at a standard or above-average rating from the prior year in the same specialty are required for consideration

Additional Information

• Responsibilities include facilitating therapeutic groups and managing patients on voluntary and involuntary status
• Experience with restraints and seclusion protocols is relevant to this role
• Candidates who have previously worked at any Northwell/Nuvance Health location may be subject to an eligibility review process prior to placement
• Local candidates residing within 60 miles of the facility are accepted, though at a reduced rate
• Timekeeping is managed through Kronos
