American Traveler is seeking a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) with recent Level 1 or Level 2 experience for a 13-week acute care night shift assignment at a Level 1 trauma facility.

Details

• Acute care inpatient setting at a Level 1 trauma facility
• Covers all inpatient areas and floors, serving a patient population ranging from neonates to geriatrics
• Respiratory therapy procedures include EKGs, bedside bronchoscopies, and bedside spirometry
• Ventilator equipment includes Dräger, Servo I, and CareFusion (Heliox and NICU use only); BiPAP equipment includes Vision, V60, V30, and Respironics S/T; High flow: Airvo2
• EMR: Epic (experience required)
• 12-hour night shifts, 7pm–7am
• Weekend requirement: every other weekend on nights
• Holidays rotate with permanent staff
• Floating within the hospital in an RT capacity is required
• 3 shifts of unit/department-specific orientation (12 hours each)

Requirements

• Minimum 1 year of respiratory therapy experience required
• Recent Level 1 or Level 2 trauma experience required
• Required certifications: BLS (AHA), ACLS, and RRT or CRT via NBRC; NRP and PALS preferred
• Active state or compact (NLC) RT license required at time of consideration — license required if applicable; pending licenses not accepted
• Active certifications required at time of consideration; pending certifications not accepted
• A copy of a valid driver's license is required for consideration and will be used to verify residence outside the 50-mile radius
• 2 professional references required: one supervisor from within the last 12 months and one peer or supervisor from within the last 3 years, including dates of employment and eligibility for rehire
• Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility
• Candidates may not currently be employed (full-time, part-time, or PRN) at any facility associated with CommonSpirit, including CHI and/or Dignity
• Artificial nails are prohibited in all patient care areas

Additional Information

• Provide respiratory therapy services across all inpatient areas, adapting to varying levels of patient acuity each shift
• A lead therapist is present on each shift; travelers will never be the sole RT in-house
• Hospitalist and intensivist are available in-house 24/7
• Team scheduling with strong collaboration among RT, providers, and nursing staff
• Key attributes for success in this role include time management, flexibility, adaptability, communication, and a willingness to learn
• RTO must be requested upfront; no more than 7 days per 13-week contract will be approved, and additional RTO will not be approved after consideration
• Candidates who were previously employed PRN through outside staffing firms at CommonSpirit facilities will be considered
