American Traveler is seeking an experienced Psychiatric RN for a Behavioral Health unit position at a Magnet-designated, Level I Trauma teaching hospital, requiring Epic proficiency and inpatient psych experience.

Details

• Inpatient Behavioral Health unit within a large, short-term acute care hospital (1,259 staffed beds)
• Adult and geriatric psychiatric patient population (18+), including patients with co-morbid medical conditions requiring a med-surg approach
• Diagnoses include dementia, depression, Parkinson's Disease, bipolar disorder, anxiety, and substance use/chemical dependency disorders
• Locked unit environment with a 1:6 nurse-to-patient ratio
• Day shift schedule, 3x12-hour shifts (7:00–19:30)
• Every other weekend required
• Floating required within the Behavioral Health service line and to other BH units
• No on-call requirements
• Block scheduling is not available
• Charting performed in Epic (experience required)
• Navy scrubs required

Requirements

• Active MO RN license or Compact RN license valid in Missouri required; IL candidates may apply with a pending IL license
• Current BLS and CPI certifications required
• Minimum 1 year of RN experience required
• Inpatient psychiatric and medical/psych experience required
• Geriatric nursing experience required
• Substance use/chemical dependency experience required
• Proficiency in Epic EMR required
• Required skills: medication administration (PO, rectal, IM, IV, SC), IV insertion and maintenance, blood glucose monitoring, and Foley catheter insertion and maintenance
• Must reside more than 75 miles from the facility to be eligible for this position

Additional Information

• Responsibilities include milieu presence, IV starts, restraint application, pre-op prep for ECT patients, and serving as charge nurse as needed
• Some patients present with mobility issues and complex co-morbidities requiring a med-surg nursing approach
• First-time travelers are considered on a case-by-case basis and will be routed through a clinical screening process
• RTO is limited to no more than 7 days per 13-week contract; no RTO is permitted during the first week of orientation
• Former permanent employees of any BJC facility must wait 1 year before returning as a traveler
• Travelers may work at this facility for up to 18 months before a 3-month break in service is required
• Parking passes are available on a monthly basis through the facility's Public Safety department at varying rates and availability
• Local candidates are not accepted; candidates must reside more than 75 miles from the facility
